Recommendations!

If you have a recommendation you’d like to submit, send it in.  Use the format you see below and I will gladly post it.

Responsible Men – http://www.responsiblemen.net – I have to recommend this organization.  It’s mine!  Please give if you can.  I am creating the “Responsible Money” fund.  It’s a pool of money that will be loaned (with no interest) to other organizations who are working to end men’s violence against women.  The money will be used as “start-up” money to cover the costs (flyers, venue rental, T-shirts, etc.) of hosting a fundraising event.  When the loan is repaid, it can then be redistributed to another group that needs it.  This is grass roots at the roots!!!

The Cipher - www.thecipheratx.org – This is a very talented group of young men and women who are doing amazing work.  Please check out their website and donate what you can.  They are trying to raise money to get to the Brave New Voices Poetry Festival in Chicago this July.  Help them make it happen!!!  I did.

White Ribbon Campaign - http://www.whiteribbon.ca/international/ The White Ribbon Campaign (WRC) is the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women (VAW). In over fifty-five countries, campaigns are led by both men and women, even though the focus is on educating men and boys. In some countries it is a general public education effort focused on ending violence against women.

Detroit Area Diaper Bank – http://www.detroitareadiaperbank.org/ Diapers. A basic necessity of life and a seemingly every-day item for most of us.  But for those who need them and cannot afford them, especially the most vulnerable populations — babies, the elderly and people with disabilities — diapers can seem an out-of-reach luxury.

Operation: Kid Equip – http://www.operationkidequip.org We believe that a child’s academic achievement should not be constrained by their family financial (in)abilities. Operation: Kid Equip’s goal is to help improve public education and the psychosocial well-being of underprivileged children. We do it through dedication and a very unique mission.  The mission of Operation: Kid Equip is to serve the educational needs of children by providing free school supply kits to students from low-income families.

Homeless Prenatal Program - http://www.homelessprenatal.org/donate.htm Seizing the motivating opportunity created by pregnancy and parenthood, HPP joins with families to help them recognize their strengths and trust in their capacity to transform their lives to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
